Later in time, the owl was denigrated by the Church into a sign of evil. Farmers would kill them and nail them to barn doors. Regardless of her smeared reputation, the owl is a powerful bird. She walks the line between this world and the Otherworld. Her hoot reminds us that life is about transformation of the body and soul into a new beginning like a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly. A new being born from the old.
